Ginger-Pear Avocado Shake (Paleo)

I am not a picky eater. But when it comes to drinks, I am the most pickiest person in the world. My drink consumption consists of water, the shakes featured on this blog (for special occasions) and perhaps a hot chocolate on a cold day.

I just can’t get into replacing a meal or snack with liquid. It never fills me up. Plus, I don’t like having sugar-filled shakes for a meal.

So, I was pleasantly surprised when I made this shake and I did get filled up. And, it’s not a killer sweet drink (which makes it more appealing to me!). Rather, the ginger and lime gives it a more… savory (?) taste.I finally have a “drinkable meal” for when I’m on the go 🙂

So warning: do not expect a dessert-like drink (if you do, just add a banana/sweetener!)

“Shamrock Shake”

I’ve never had a shamrock shake.

Not even when I was little (thank goodness).

I’d like to say that I was food conscientious from a young age, but I wasn’t.

I just hated mint. And still do, by the way.

Still, I kinda felt alienated with all the green drinks around me. People love their shamrock shakes apparently :/

So, I made my own, tasting probably nothing like McD’s version. But that’s okay. Free of the mystery ingredients and dyes AND bypassing on the mint? AND being green. I’ll happily take it and chug it down 🙂

Avocado Shake

So cold. So smooth. So green. So avocado-y. Yes, I know. Avocados again. And I’m not saying sorry. What can I say? They’re sooo good and I happen to have a lot at the moment. To switch it up, I’ll try making something without avocados tomorrow (no guarantees though).

Avocado Shake

 Ingredients:

1 avocado

1 cup milk

1/4 cup plain yogurt

1/4 cup quick oats (Optional. If your not using, you might want to add more yogurt for a thicker shake)

1 and 1/2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

ice cubes (optional)

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If you are not using ice cubes, chill in the freezer or fridge before drinking.
